When do you know the most important decision of your life is the right one?
Reaping the seeds from what she's sown; Cheney Reynolds moves into a historic neighborhood in Ferguson, Missouri, and becomes reclusive.
Her first neighbor, the incomparable Mrs. Beatrice Tilley Beacon aka Grandma BB, is an opinionated childless widow. Grandma BB is a self-proclaimed expert on topics Cheney isn’t seeking advice—everything from landscaping to hip-hop dancing to romance.
Then there is Parke Kokumuo Jamison VI, a direct descendant of a royal African tribe. He learned his family ancestry, African history, and lineage preservation before he could count.
Unwittingly, they are drawn to each other, but it takes Christ to weave their lives into a spiritual bliss while He exonerates their past indiscretions.

WHERE DO I BEGIN?!?! FIRST LET ME SAY MRS. SIMMONS IS AN ANOINTED, MASTER WRITER IN HER FIELD. OMG! I JUST LOVE THE WAY YOU TELL A STORY. ALTHOUGH YOU WRITE BEAUTIFULLY CHRISTIAN LOVE STORIES, YOU CAN'T HELP BUT CONNECT WITH GOD ON A PERSONAL LEVEL BECAUSE SHE WEAVES HIM INTO THE STORY SO WELL. NOT TO MENTION THE JAMIESON MEN SOUND SO YUMMY, YOU WISH YOU HAD ONE IN YOUR LIFE :)

I LOVE HOW SHE SHOWED IN HER WRITING HOW GOD IS EVERYWHERE AND EVERYTHING. THAT IF GOD WANTS YOU, THERE IS NO GETTING AWAY FROM HIM. I LOVED ALL THE CHARACTERS ESPECIALLY LITTLE KAMI AND GRANDMA BB. THEY BOTH WERE TOO FUNNY AND LOVEABLE.

WHAT STOOD OUT TO ME THE MOST IS HOW ONE COUPLE IN THE BOOK IS TRULY IN LOVE WITH EACH OTHER; HOWEVER, ONE LEFT GOD AND HE WAS CALLING THAT PERSON BACK BUT THE PERSON WAS REFUSING, LITERALLY PUTTING UP A FIGHT (BUT THANK GOD FOR A SHAMELESS PRAYING MOTHER..LOL..) AND THE OTHER PERSON NEVER HAD A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD FELT THEY COULD BE THAT PERSON ALL AND THAT THEIR LOVE WOULD SUSTAIN ONE ANOTHER. IN THE END IT WAS A MATTER OF WHO IS GREATER: YOUR LOVE FOR MAN OR GOD. IT MADE ME THINK OF HOW PEOPLE REALLY DON'T THINK THEY NEED GOD IN THEIR LIFE, RELATIONSHIPS, FINANCES, OR IN EVERY AREA OF THEIR LIVES.

THE CURVEBALL IN THE END WAS A WOW FACTOR, UNPREDICTABLE FOR SURE. NEVER SEEN IT COMING!!!

I TRULY LOVE THIS AUTHOR. KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK. YOU HAVE A FAN FOR LIFE :)

Guilty of Love The Jamieson Legacy Book 1 edition by Pat Simmons Karen Rodgers Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

Great first series book. Any author willing to put in tongue talking believers and depict them in a sane, honest way has my vote. I believe this book was the author's first time out of the gate. I expect the writing will only become richer as the plot lines deepen. Someone made the comment, in a previous review, that the characters seem to be miraculously cured from issues that can only be dealt with through counseling. What the author described in this book was the ministry of the Holy Spirit. He can undo in a moment what years of therapy cannot undo. That's why they call Him God. Looking forward to reading the other books in the series.

Cheney faced with a very difficult decision, chooses what she think is the right decision but soon realizes it was wrong, scared to face her family she decides to stay away from them. Finally she decides it is time to return home and make amends with her family who wants nothing to do with her. This was a very good book it made me laugh, cry and shout praise the lord. Grandma BB and Parke was very refreshing, looking toward to book two.
This is the first time I read anything by Pat Simmons. I was pleasantly surprised. I loved that the book had a story line that was realistic with regards to a lot of issues that we deal with in the world today; especially that of our religious backgrounds and how we handle them. I also liked that I was given the ability to read the first book in the series for free! This is a good option for those who want to check out the series first and be given the option to pay for the others! And I can't wait to read the other books within the series!
I thought the novel was okay. I loved that it had African-American history in it, but at times it seemed too heavy handed. For example, Parke's insistence on carrying on his royal African-blood seemed a bit strange for me (a lover of African-American heritage). The romance progressed a bit too slowly for me and each of the characters seemed too extreme and not very multi faceted. The church scenes were a bit over the top. Coming from a Pentecostal background, I understood the scenes and the rapid conversions, however, I felt like Annette was waaay to aggressive as someone "witnessing" or "evangelizing".
This is the second time I read this novel and just like the first time I enjoyed it greatly! Pat Simmons has a way of making you feel like your there with characters. I love Grandma BB! She reminds me of my feisty grandma God rest her soul, she could and would act just like her. I really like the way she brings it out that you have to be equally compatible and especially spiritually so. I love Parke's persistence and Cheney's head strong ways. A very good novel. I am going to read again the others in the Guilty Series just because I enjoyed it so much the first time. I think you will enjoy this series I know I did!
Sometimes what's best for us doesn't always come in the packaging that's familiar; especially when God is at the helm. Parke finds out that how he envisioned the love of his life isn't quite the package God wrapped her in. What unfolds between Parke and Cheney will have the single reader yearning for a love like theirs, a man wanting to be a better lover and people in general taking time to share history the way the Kokummuno family did.

Every one of Ms. Simmons characters touched me in more ways than one. As a matter of fact I know Grandma BB, she is that neighbor who watched all the kids, and she's your grandmother who loved life. From the protagonist to the secondary characters they were bold and unforgettable. We are all "Guilty of Love" but can we say we are guilty of twin souls? I wish I could but until I find my twin soul I promise to follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

WOW! What an amazing story of God's forgiveness & healing!!! I know this is a work of fiction...however, the author touches on things that many of us struggle with! What a sweet reminder that God will meet us where we're at! That there is nothing that can separate US from the Love of God!!!!! I commend u on an awesome read & weaving the Living Word throughout the story! Many times I had to put my kindle down to look up scripture! This book inspired me, made me LOL, & made me cry. What more could u ask for in a "Christian fiction" book?! MAY GOD BLESS YOU TO KEEP BEING A BLESSING!!!!!
